Writer | Poet | Artist | Painter
Bio
As a teenager I developed my imagination through reading and writing.
One of my earliest encounters with poetry, was at this time with the work of DH Lawrence and also the war poets, in particular Wilfred Owen.
My own writing really began with extra English classes encountering many northern writers, including Alan Sillitoe. There, I learnt how the ordinary could be made extraordinary through the writers imaginative powers.
I have a natural ability with language as a means of expression and over the years I have been drawn to it as a means of exploring the inner landscape. This often involves a series of complex imagery. Imagery that I have channelled through a direct interest in modernist writers. The work of T Elliot and Sylvia Plath come to mind.
I am a painter too. I see writing as painting with words.
